The purpose of the WrapAround Program is to prevent the
necessity of removing children from their families. It is a strength-focused, needs-based
process which utilizes the natural supports of the family in addition to coordinating the
efforts of more traditional services. We believe that children belong with their families
in every case where services can be provided to ensure their safety and the safety of
others in the community. Our Agency provides
facilitation for the WrapAround process. Our facilitators assess the strengths and needs
of the child and family, help them develop an effective team of family and community
members, and assist them in creating a plan to meet their needs which draws on the
strengths of team members.
Team members meet as needed (usually once or twice each
month) and facilitators meet with family, school personnel, etc. as needed, acting as the
organizing element between informal and formal supports. Their responsibilities include
updating and distributing written plans; creating, updating and submitting budget
requests; providing notice of meetings; and facilitating meetings to ensure the
maintenance of a strength focused, needs-based process. |
